Doug's X Pat Menzies Mighty T-shirt
Made in collaboration with Pat Menzies, Auckland's most iconic shoe store
Pat Menzies X Doug's — a co-production of limited product, designed for Doug's Mighty T-shirt and to radiate Pat’s legacy.
Pat Menzies is no stranger to New Zealand, spearheading Auckland's shoe revolution in 1975 — being the the first to bring Dr. Marten’s, Converse and Vans to the country. Pat developed their Queen Street location to house the whole operation — their retail store, an inner city warehouse, offices, dispatch and more recently a Converse concept store. Pat didn't stop there. He built a thriving business, a customer base that spans generations and a rich, important, kiwi legacy.
We were given access to some of Pat's archive, navigating newspaper clippings, original shop signs, hand-written notes and shoe boxes. Using the archive, we worked with local artist Riley Karl to design a t-shirt that radiates Pat's legacy. We think we've done it.
Worn here by Pat himself and his trusty sidekick Andy. Having both set the groundwork for Auckland’s most iconic shoe store (and collectively working 80 years for the business), it’s only appropriate they were the first to wear them.

This garment is made with 20% recycled cotton — created from pre and post consumer waste. Production requires less water, less energy and generates less waste.
Typically recycled cotton fibres are shorter, rougher and weaker — making a less durable fabric. By combining recycled cotton and organic cotton, we're able to achieve a harmonious, smooth finish — ideal for embroidery and print.
